Ohio Foreclosed Homes

The list of Ohio foreclosed homes is growing as a weakened economy and relaxed mortgage practices takes its toll on the Buckeye State. At the end of 2007, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported that the state had one of the country's highest percentage foreclosure rates of outstanding home loans in foreclosure at 3.9 percent. Regionally, foreclosures in Columbus Ohio rose in the first quarter of 2008 by 50 percent over the previous year, according to one source. Foreclosures in Cleveland Ohio were also up 50 percent for the same period.

Texas Foreclosed Homes

Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas-Fort Worth may be in the top ten of the Forbes list of "America's Recession Proof Cities" (announced in spring 2008), but it has not exempted them from experiencing a sizeable increase in foreclosure activity. In fact, foreclosure filing activity in Texas during the first quarter of 2008 increased between 20% - 28% from the first quarter of 2007 (based on two industry sources).

California has experienced some of the highest foreclosure numbers in the country. The state earned the dubious distinction of being #2 in foreclosure activity; for every 200 households in California, there was 1 entering into some stage of the foreclosure process. In terms of trending predictors, California is not faring well because in the first three months of 2008 foreclosures soared more than 300%.
